J.P. Hibbard Investigations (JPHI) is the business entity of Justin P. Hibbard, licensed private investigator and Certified Fraud Examiner. Mr. Hibbard has been conducting business investigations for 15 years, including a former career as an award-winning investigative business journalist. He has practiced exclusively as a private investigator since 2006. Reuters news service has described him as an "expert" in due diligence. Mr. Hibbard specializes in preventing, detecting, and responding to occupational and consumer fraud.
After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994, Mr. Hibbard embarked on a career as a business journalist that spanned one of the most corrupt periods in U.S. business history. As a reporter at Red Herring and BusinessWeek magazines, he learned investigative techniques while covering and witnessing such frauds as the dot-com IPO frenzy (1999-2000), Enron (2001), Worldcom (2002), the mutual fund market-timing scandals (2003-2006), and the seeds of the subprime mortgage crisis (2004-2006). In 2003, he won an award from the American Society of Business Press Editors for his investigation of securities fraud at Envision Development Corp. from 1999 through 2001.
These formative experiences gave Mr. Hibbard a thorough understanding of fraud's devastating impact on victims, perpetrators, and society--from undermined financial markets to shattered personal lives. He entered the private-investigation field to achieve justice for clients, whether they are individuals or organizations. Today, Mr. Hibbard investigates suspect accounting, insurance claims, money laundering, workplace incidents, and elusive people and assets, among other subjects.
As a boutique investigation practice, JPHI delivers detailed, high-quality work product that is tailored to the unique requirements of each case. Unlike many larger competitors, the firm does not churn out a high volume of reports based on standardized templates. Mr. Hibbard devotes personal time and attention to every case that JPHI accepts. He works with a team of proven associates when necessary but never delegates cases to subcontractors or junior employees. These and other promises are listed in the Client's Bill of Rights.
